# Live Radar

> How to use search and acoustic alerts to discover content.

You will learn how to build complex queries and configure audio alerts for high-velocity events.

Discovery on the Newsroom Terminal is powered by a hybrid search engine and real-time acoustic notifications, ensuring you never miss a breaking scoop.

## Natural Language and Boolean Search

You can query the live feed using standard Boolean operators or natural language.

* **Boolean Search:** Combine terms using `AND`, `OR`, `NOT`, and specific metadata flags like `trust:>90` or `#london`.
* **Natural Language:** Type conversational queries (e.g., "Show me video from Westminster in the last 2 hours"). The terminal's AI gateway automatically parses your intent and translates it into a structured filter.

## Geospatial Filtering

Under the hood, the Extra Scoop feed is powered by high-performance spatial indexing.

When you filter by location or borough, the feed executes distance calculations against eyewitness coordinates, allowing the terminal to resolve hyperlocal radiuses instantly.

> To protect journalists and civilian eyewitnesses, exact camera sensor coordinates are **never** exposed to the Newsroom Terminal. The backend applies cryptographic location obfuscation to standard uploads, and snaps to macro-grid boundaries when an eyewitness activates Ghost Mode. Your spatial queries operate accurately against macro-regions without compromising physical safety.

## Spatial Velocity & Acoustic Radar

Staring at a dashboard during a major event is inefficient. You can enable the Acoustic Radar to receive synthesised sonar alerts driven by high-velocity corroboration triggers.

When a high-velocity event occurs—specifically, when multiple corroborated signals are uploaded from the same geographic cluster within a narrow time window—the spatial clustering engine fires a priority `VELOCITY ALERT`. The terminal plays a distinct audio ping, allowing you to instantly switch your focus to a rapidly developing situation on the ground.
