You will learn how the ephemeral, end-to-end encrypted chat protects your identity. During a high-stakes negotiation, newsrooms may need to ask you for additional context. Extra Scoop provides a secure, ephemeral messenger to facilitate this without exposing your phone number or personal details.

Ephemeral Sessions

Every chat session operates on a strict 15-minute maximum lifetime. The messenger runs entirely in your device’s memory. When the 15-minute timer expires—or when you manually close the session—the system executes a deterministic memory wipe. No chat logs are ever saved to your disk or the Extra Scoop servers.

Post-Quantum Cryptography

Your messages are protected by a hybrid cryptographic wrapper. The system combines standard RSA-OAEP key exchanges with ML-KEM 768 (Kyber), a NIST-standardised post-quantum algorithm. This ensures that your communications remain secure not only against today’s threats, but also against future quantum computing attacks.
Because the encryption is strictly end-to-end, Extra Scoop staff cannot read your messages or recover a session if it times out.
